Our story begins in Brest, at the end of the 1970s.
The commercial port at that time welcomed a number of cargo ships from all over the world delivering their precious merchandise. On the wharves, the sailors mingled with workers from the ship repair yards and other players, such as shipchandlers.
The mission of these supply specialists was to replenish the visiting ships before they once again took to the sea. Various tools, topsides, spare parts… there was a long list of supplies to deliver!
The company Belmar Bellion Marine was a modest shipchandler back then, established in the heart of the trading port of Brest. The company employed two members of staff.

In 1979, the first drilling began in the Iroise Sea.
Before returning to sea for several months of research, oil platforms would tie up at Brest trading port to receive supplies of materials and various other provisions. Belmar Bellion Marine was contacted by a French oil company for its services as a shipchandler. This encounter would mark the beginning of a great collaboration between the company from Brittany and the giant of the seas.
At the end of the campaign of exploration, Belmar Bellion Marine was offered the opportunity to continue its mission with its oil partner, this time off the coast of Africa, in the Gulf of Guinea. Belmar accepted: this enduring strategic choice would pay off and lay the path towards new collaborations in the Offshore and Maritime industry.
Over the years, the company diversified its business and Belmar regularly collaborated with professionals from industry, oil, maritime, agrifood…
In 2015, the Company began working in the aeronautics sector with a dedicated department. In 2017, Belmar turned towards aerospace when it signed a contract with a renowned French operator.

A series of moves
Since its creation, Belmar has invested various locations to successfully perform its activity.
- 1978 : Belmar establishes its quarters at the trading port in Brest at 7 quai du Commandant Malbert.
- 1999 : the first important move, to rue Jurien de la Gravière, in order to increase the office and storage space while remaining rooted at the trade port of Brest.
- 2004 : the Dubai agency opens in November.
- 2014 : the company moves to the industrial zone of Kerscao at Relecq Kerhuon
- 2016 : creation of the subsidiary BelQuest in Houston (Texas) in the United States
